INTER DPS CENTRAL & SOUTH ZONE CRICKET TOURNAMENT :
THE INTER DPS EVENTS:

This year to make adolescents aware of growing population, an
issue of National concern, different levels of competitions
were conducted for students. At the inter school level
competition 11 local schools were part of the competition
conducted by the Jansankhya Sthirtha Kosh and DPS Society.
DPS Indore was one of the 20 Zonal nodal schools in this
endeavour. In continuation to that, the Zonal Level events
conducted were namely English Debate, Quiz Competition
and Collage making competition. 10 Schools participated. The
award ceremony was conducted in which Father De’Mello,
Principal St. Arnold School, was the Chief Guest.
Guest was Ms. P. Mathew, President, Sahodaya School Complex. Principals of participating
schools also graced the occasion. The winner of the Quiz, conducted by quiz master Mr.
Pahare, was Sathya Sai School team. The collage making competition winner was the St.
Arnold School team. The English Debate winner was DPS Indore team, comprising of Veda
Handa class X & Kshitij Bakliwal class IX.
OTHER EVENTS IN WHICH OUR STUDENTS PARTICIPATED ARE:

A team of 10 students participated in the Inter School Idea- Kaho what’s your idea, held at
Emerald Heights School Indore and our students secured third position.

Sanchita Kochhar VIII D, won the 2nd prize at the Interschool English speech competition at
St. Paul H.S. School. Devansh Manu VIII A also participated in the same.
TO ENRICH THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND TO :
give a practical approach to classroom
teaching, students of DPS visited various places. Some of these were:-

Students of class XI visited Eicher Motors Factory to understand the working of factories.

15 students of class XI visited Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology to see their
Laboratories during the Science Week and National Science Day celebrations. Students
discussed practical illustrations of the technologies being developed at the centre.

Class XI students visited a seri-culture farm at Mhow and experienced how silk yarn is
obtained.

Class XI Students visited Barli Development Institute for Rural Women, run by an N.G.O..
They were impressed by the basic literacy and skills training imparted to tribal girls, who
subsequently shared these with community members, thus transforming lives of many more
people. Students had a firsthand experience of a self sufficient organization. They grow
whatever food they need. The extensive use of solar power and recycling creates a totally
pollution free environment and meets most of their energy requirements.

16 Biology students of classes XI and XII witnessed a live demonstration of Endoscopy
Surgery at Choithram Hospital.

A group of 51 students, accompanied by 5 teachers, visited Ranikhet, Nainital and Jim
Corbett Park. They enjoyed the cool weather and serene environs during this memorable trip.

DPS students accompanied by three teachers, explored magical Singapore. For many students
. It was the first time away from home and parents. For many, it was the first trip abroad.
Exhibiting confidence, capability and self reliance, the students took charge of their luggage
and cameras. They visited many places of tourist attraction. Travel is more than sightseeing,
it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of the living. A voyage never
ends, but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers of our minds.
REPUBLIC DAY:
Republic Day was celebrated. A special assembly was conducted by class VIII students on
the occasion. Dr. S.B.
Singh, Joint Director
Education Dept, Indore
Division, was the Chief
Guest for the day. Mr.
Rajesh Mittal, Member
Management Committee
and P.T.A., graced the
occasion. After the flag
hoisting a special
assembly was conducted
to commemorate the
day. Scholar badges, Star badges and Star Ties were awarded to meritorious students. An
inter House Vocal Music Competition for classes VII to IX, XI was also conducted, which
was enjoyed by the parents of award recipients and participants. The judges for the Vocal
Music Competition were Ms. Shradha Jagtap and Mr. Sanjeev Chourasia.
GRADUATION CEREMONY:
“If you wish to ensure your rise to the top – take the stairs
(i.e. hard work) and don’t depend on the lift (i.e. short cuts& luck). The lift may sometimes fail, but the stairs will
never let you down in your struggle to reach the top.”
These were the inspiring words of Pro Vice-Chairman,
Shri H.M. Gupta (Chief Guest) in his address to the class
XII students at a unique
and emotional graduation
ceremony held on the 28th of January”. Mr. Arvind
Shrivastav and Mr. Rajesh Mittal, parent representatives
also graced the occasion. The achievements of the
students were lauded and the students went on to take
blessings of the dignitaries, teachers and parents. An
evening to cherish and remember!
Graduation ceremony of Prep students was conducted. The Chief Guests for the occasion
were: Lt. Rashmi Roy Chowdhury & Dr. Mrs. Anupama Negi: Anesthetist & Cancer
survivor. Parents were congratulated at their ward’s successful completion of Pre-Primary
education. They were welcomed to formal schooling.
OVERNIGHT CAMP:
Overnight camp for 115 class IV students was
conducted. The children enjoyed each moment.
A variety of activities had been organized.
Treasure Hunt, Carnival, camp fire, live
demonstrations by a potter, students also tried
their hands at the potters wheel- to name just a
few. Children were keen to extend the duration
of the camp.
INVESTITURE CEREMONY:
A Special Assembly was conducted to commemorate Investiture
Ceremony for the session 2010-2011. District
Collector Mr. Raghvendra Kumar Singh was the
Chief Guest for the occasion. Mr. A.K. Shrivastava,
Mr. Rajesh Mittal, Parent
Representatives and
Mr. Nitin Ambaselkar,
Treasurer, JSWS, graced
the occasion. With customary pomp and splendor, the school
and House appointees were awarded badges and sashes. This
year, Directors and Deputy Directors for fourteen different
clubs were also appointed.
A SPECIAL OPEN HOUSE:
A special Open House was conducted for
Pre-Nursery, Nursery, Prep, Class I and II.
The Educational carnival was a great
success. The interactive parent – teacher
session consisted of various fun filled
activities such as treasure hunt, tattoo Zone,
water games, fun zone, parent child game,
colouring zone and many more. Where in
parents and their wards enjoyed
participating in these games and activities.
INDEPENDENCE DAY:
Independence Day was celebrated. The
Chief Guest was Mr. G.R. Meena
Commissioner- Customs & Central Excise
& Service Tax Appeal. Awards for 100%
attendance, Best in Art, Music and Dance,
session 2009-10, were awarded to
meritorious students. Inter House Music
and Dance competition for classes VII to
XII were also conducted.
CHILDREN’S DAY:
Children’s Day was celebrated with great
fervor and enthusiasm. Students put up
different stalls and enjoyed their day with
dance, music and horse riding.
