The House System

One of the characteristics of a public school is the house system. Each segment of the school is divided into houses. By this system, a child learns to take his place in the community, learns a significant lesson of the give and take in community life, acquires self reliance and confidence, and gradually becomes independent enough to assume a role fit for discharging the responsibilities as a member of the community. The sense created by a house system breeds strong and lasting bonds that are transferred to the fields outside.

FINISHING CLASSES FOR PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

Personality Development classes are conducted for children of classes III to IX. These classes are aimed at grooming young girls and boys for manners and etiquette, with a stress on value-based development of their personality. The curriculum designed for these classes takes into account two major aspects, which are, inculcating right values and the conventional rules of social behavior i.e. manners and etiquette. The areas of development are as follows:

The methodology consists of interactive sessions in a specially equipped laboratory for the purpose. Children are introduced to a variety of social and familiar situations and motivated to react. They are then guided towards the right directions and conclusions.
Growing girls and boys are thus expected to develop the right kind of finesse, confidence, and humility to become complete and good human beings.

EDUCATIONAL TOURS

A wide range of educational tours, catering to all age groups, is an integral part of education of DPS Indore. These include trips to well-known Gardens

Museums
Post Offices
Farmhouses etc.

and around the city for the children of classes Pre-Primary, I & II. For higher classes, such tours also include various factories, some industrial units and cultural centers, printing press and others. Educational tours also cover short trips to neighbouring cities and states, for which nominal charges will have to be paid by the student to cover the expenses. Education through adventure will be made available through trekking, cycling, camping etc. We are in contact with few associations of India to induce active participation of our students, in addition to the school programmes on adventure.

Music Room
Music is the essence of life. Music heals the ails of the ill and provides new vigour to those who are suffering and in stress. DPS Indore provides guidance to those interested in music, dance and arts. It has well-equipped instrumental and vocal music rooms. Many students interested in instruments such as guitar, keyboard and drums are guided by the teachers.

SOCIAL SCIENCE LAB
The fast changing world scenario has brought about new ideas and concepts in the educational field and Social Science is no exception. The practical aspect of Geography in particular which not only includes the study of maps and diagrams but also encourages learning through the use of audio-visual aids thus making the subject matter interesting, easy and picturesque. With the introduction of Social Science lab in DPS , the school will provide the best of all facilities including maps, charts, globes, 3-D plastic models, survey instruments, scientific and educational teaching aids and their optimum use will give ample opportunities to students to make learning an interesting experience.
MATHS LAB
Math lab promotes better understanding of concepts by involving students in a number of activities. Visuals and models give shape to well designed theory concepts where children learn by doing. It provides an opportunity to children to work on projects and be more involved and interested in the subject.
SCIENCE LAB
The school has well equipped Biology, Physics and Chemistry labs where regular practicals are conducted for all children from class IX onwards.
Library

The school has separate well-equipped libraries for the Primary & Senior Sections. The libraries have open book shelves for easy access. The Junior Library has a wide variety of colourful books to attract the young readers and satisfy their curiosity.

The Senior Library boasts of a wide variety of subject related reference books together with fiction and non fiction. An Internet Café provides internet facilities and on-line classes.

Audio-Visual Room
Well equipped hall where meetings, seminars,quizzes and other programmes are conducted using Audio-visual aids.
EXTRA COACHING
The school provides the facility for after-school coaching to our potential talent for swimming, cricket, basketball and other games as per requirement. Summer camp is organized in the month of May for sports, Art and Craft and other activities. Talented and interested children can thus avail a great opportunity to learn what they love, with additional attention provided by coaches and teachers. The school also provides extra coaching for students taking part in illustrious competitive examinations like the NTSE.

Administrative Staff- DPS Indore

The Administration Group of DPS Indore is capable enough to manage all the daily activities going on in the school. From Fee collection to Building Maintenance, this group is extremely adept at getting things done.

BOOKS/UNIFORM COUNTER
For convenience of parents the school has provided space to various suppliers to supply books, stationery and uniform articles in the school campus. Parents are hereby informed that purchasing the school uniform and books from the school store is not compulsory and the same can be purchased from the market. However, purchase from the supplier available at the school will ensure quality and uniformity. It is for the parents' convenience that the school has extended these facilities.
HEALTH CARE CENTER

Dr. Sarla Khanwilkar Rachna Solanki (Nurse)

The school has a large, airy room with comfortable beds and accessories. The Health Care Center is completely equipped with First Aid medicines as well as other arrangements to give comfort to a sick child. The room is brightly lit with attractive posters and has small toys for small children. The Health Care Center has a full time Nurse and a Pediatrician. A periodic medical checkup of every student is conducted and record maintained. In case Doctor finds that a child needs special medical attention related to problems of vision, hearing and dental health or problems related to breathing, parents'are informed. Emergencies, which the clinic cannot handle, are referred to leading hospitals of the city.
CANTEEN
Healthy snacks and soft drinks are provided by the School Canteen at fixed rates on cash payment. Members of Student Council and teachers on duty monitor the quality and prices from time to time.
SCHOOL COUNSELLOR

Dolly D’Souza

The school has a counselor who is dedicated to solving the behaviourial and other personal problems of the child. She takes care of these problems with the love and concern of a parent and is successful in making the child realize the problem & helps in rectifying them, thus ensuring a complete all round development.
